It never fails, Geoff Tate will remind you of one of your friends. Maybe a cousin. Maybe yourself. His laid back, conversational storytelling has earned him praise and fans through out the comedy community. One guy, in Seattle, even referred to him as a bar room hero. That’s what he is: a guy telling stories like you’re hanging out with him in a bar. Whether it’s something you’ve done, something you wish you’d done or something you’re glad you never did, Geoff never hesitates to tell the truth about it, however unflattering it might be. The son of a pentecostal minister and a drug abuser for most of his early 20’s, Geoff is the rare comedian who talks about religion without condescension and drugs without glorification. He has been seen on Comedy Central's Live At Gotham and The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson. He has performed at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, TN and South By Southwest Music Festival in Austin, TX. His debut album, I Got Potential, was released on April 23, 2013 to rave reviews. Geoff “has a knack for mining his own personal history for big laughs” (The Capital Times, Madison, WI) and his style has been compared to the late Mitch Hedberg (The Columbus Dispatch, Columbus, OH).
“Tate is so fucking funny that after hearing him four shows in a weekend, I still held off taking a shit until he was done his fifth. No kidding”. - Doug Stanhope
“Geoff Tate is a crass slob who’s life seems to have gotten away from him a bit and I’m not sure he’s going to get a handle on it. In other words, he’s hilarious.” - Marc Maron
“Rock and Roll meets Preacher’s kid. Mockery+Hilarity+Sensibility=Geoff Tate” - Chad Daniels.
